Hambach Castle (20 km) – Hambach Castle has been considered the cradle of German democracy since the black, red and gold flag was raised over the Kastanienberg (literally “chestnut castle) in Neustadt in May 1832. The national memorial in Neustadt an der Weinstraße was rebuilt from plans created by the architect Max Dudler.

Speyer Cathedral (30 km) – the Imperial Cathedral is one of the major monuments of Romanesque art and is the largest preserved Romanesque church in Europe.
