If you love variety, you’ll find what you’re looking for here, with over many hundreds of kilometres of marked paths to help you. The Palatinate Forest, Germany’s largest enclosed forested area, extends into the spa city itself, so you don’t need a car to be surrounded by an unspoilt natural environment.





Cultural monuments, stunning views, castles, rest huts and good forest management are the aims here. Wine reminds us of "the other side of Bad Dürkheim", and the wine-growing areas invite you to hike and bike between the vines and over rolling hills. And not just in the autumn when the grapes are ripe; the landscape is full of colour even in the spring, when thousands of almond trees come into bloom. Tastings at vineyards and some hearty fayre at a cosy inns serve to enhance the pleasure. Bad Dürkheim also has an extensive area of wetland for those who like the going to get tough. Rare bird species, orchards, gardens and pastures abound here, and the routes lead deep into the Rhine Valley.
